A four-day Capacity Building Training on Safeguarding was conducted from 19th to 22nd August 2025 in Pune for MISEREOR partner organisations. The training brought together participants from various organisations working across sectors, with the goal of strengthening their understanding and implementation of safeguarding practices. The sessions were designed around international standards on safeguarding, with a focus on values, roles within organisations, and the importance of cultivating a safe and respectful organisational culture.Over the course of the training, participants engaged deeply with key concepts including the development and application of codes of conduct, as well as stakeholder mapping to ensure inclusive and accountable safeguarding mechanisms. Day three emphasized risk analysis, effective complaint-handling procedures, and strategies for institutionalising safeguarding within organisational systems. This was followed by peer discussions, where organisations shared challenges and good practices from their own contexts, enriching the collective learning experience.The final day centred on leadership in safeguarding, highlighting the crucial role of organisational leaders in setting the tone and ensuring accountability. Participants reflected on how leadership can drive a culture of safety and protection, especially for vulnerable groups. The training concluded with a commitment from partner organisations to strengthen their safeguarding policies and practices, ensuring that safeguarding becomes an integral part of their operations and values.
