On December 11, 2024, KROSS organized a one-day orientation meeting at KDDC, Karwar, for 34 participants from various government organizations, NGOs, CBOs, CSOs, and local self-governments, focusing on the Child Protection Eco-system in Karnataka. The session provided a comprehensive overview of the state’s child protection landscape, addressing critical issues such as institutional and alternative care, familial vulnerabilities, and the legal framework. It also highlighted challenges such as child trafficking, children in conflict with the law, and the needs of orphaned and disabled children. Special emphasis was placed on the shift toward family-based care and the role of all stakeholders in strengthening child protection systems to ensure the safety and well-being of children across Karnataka.
